Today on our blog we will take a virtual tour through the western part of Sant Josep de sa Talaia. As we go, we’ll suggest a few places where you can stop to see incredible sunsets, contemplate the crystalline waters of our beaches and enjoy the delicious gastronomy of our island.

Our tour begins at Cala Vadella, a quiet family beach with a wide range of services. Its quaint charms, calm waters and fisherman-like atmosphere make it ideal for families and couples who wish to avoid the crowds. Set back off the beach there are several restaurants specializing in sea-based cuisine. If you are looking to relax and enjoy the peace of the island, Cala Vadella is an excellent option.

Carrying on, we find Cala Tarida beach, a beautiful white-sand cove where visitors can combine sunbathing with a good meal at any of the various restaurants perched at intervals along the high ground in the back. Cala Tarida is perfect for a family outing or for a day out with a group of friends. Sundowns are spectacular during the months of September and October.

Another of Sant Josep’s most lovely beaches – and among the world’s most beautiful – is Cala Conta (Platges de Comte). The incredible seascapes that surround this natural enclave make it one of Ibiza’s most visited spots during the summer months. Its untamed beauty with white sands and turquoise waters make it a natural paradise during the day, while, in the evening, its spectacular sunsets draw flocks of onlookers. To face due west and watch the sun sink into a sea studded with rocky islands is an experience that leaves a deep impression and brings people back to this stretch of coast year after year. The area is replete with restaurants and snack bars providing everything from unpretentious beach fare to the finest cuisine offered up by local waters. The breathtaking views afforded from every angle of every restaurant make dining at Cala Conta a visual as well as gastronomic experience. Cala Bassa is another of the better-known beaches on the island. It can best be described as a natural swimming pool. It can be reached by car, or, if one prefers an alternative mode of transport, by boat. Throughout the day, a shuttle system of ferries operates between Sant Antoni de Portmany and several of its outlying beaches. These small boats allow us to enjoy the sea to the fullest and to glimpse the island from a fresh new perspective. Cala Bassa has an incredible combination of white sands and transparent waters. Just behind the beach there is a small wood of pines and Phoenician junipers, framing the cove with an authentic Ibicenco backdrop. There are several snack bars and restaurants featuring local and Mediterranean cuisine. Also located at Cala Bassa is the well-known beach club by the same name. Despite the fact that this beach is not especially big, there is usually lots of atmosphere here, lasting until just before sunset.
