Snorkel Routes

This famous stretch of coastline is the scene of some very good snorkelling routes for all types of users. Among the many possibilities, we are going to present you the section that goes between two well-known restaurants in a small rocky cove near the passenger transport pier from whose platform we can enter the water but outside its route.

We will find a bottom on which we will stand and which takes the form of a large slab of rock. We will follow the coastline towards the other end and if we go close to it, the slab sometimes appears as a rosary of medium-sized stones where we will see the colourful ornate wrasse feeding on the frequent sea urchins that cover it.

The slab descends in a progressive slope until it comes to rest on a bed of posidonia meadow and sand, but to get there you will have to separate and reach a depth of about -3m.

The continuity of this platform is sometimes interrupted by sandy hollows where we can see red mullet stirring up the bottom to take their small prey from the sand. It will be much more difficult to find the triggerfish (Balistes caroligensis) which, always solitary, has been seen in these waters as a juvenile near floating elements, such as a mooring line or a bundle of drifting posidonia.

On reaching the other side, the one below the s’illa d’es Bosc restaurant, the wall drops decidedly steeply down to the sand, at about -5 m, with a few scattered rocks standing out. This reference point may be suitable for reversing direction and returning to the starting point after a simple but very complete dive in the ever-so-white waters of Platges de Comte.
